Our Prediction:

Lille will win

Lille – Strasbourg Match Prediction | 26-09-2019 13:00

Strasbourg suffered a poor result and have struggled to bounce back from that but les Dogues are better than that and they should get back on track with a win here as their attack was still on form against Montpellier, despite not scoring. Were backing them to do that again. Were backing both teams to score due to the fantastic attack of both sides but Lille should run out victors here, despite Strasbourgs solid home record. Lille have a great away record of six wins in their last seven matches on the road, they were slightly challenged by a buoyant Guingamp side last time out but Lille still managed to be professional in their 2-0 win.

After sharing the spoils with Rennes on Matchday 6, Lille will be aiming to start a new winning run in the Ligue 1 when they take on Strasbourg at their Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Wednesday evening. Since Strasbourg are not considered good travelers, we are tempted to put our money on Lille this time out. Les Dogues are a team with two faces and, no doubt, they record much better results on home soil than on the travels.

Lille did not start the season as they may have hoped for. Their current results dont represent their quality and my opinion is that this game will be a very good turning point for them. Last season they played very well at home and they will try to bounce back and start winning their home games this season as well. They are both scoring and conceding goals in every game they play. Their most important player is Jonathan Ikone who will try to make something happen for them. Currently, they are sitting at the 7th place with 9 points and a 7:5 goal difference.

Following his loan spells with Paris, Sint-Truiden and Angers, Jonathan Bamba joined Lille in the summer of 2018. The pacey winger born in Alfortville (France) on March 26, 1996, has been playing for les Dogues ever since, but he has yet to earn a cap for the French national team. Nonetheless, Jonathan Bamba has 12 caps with France U21 in which he scored four goals for les Tricolores.

Strasbourg Team News

Le Racing failed to find the net in previous two away games in the French elite division, which is yet another reason why we predict that they are going to return home empty-handed. In their last home game in the national championship les Dogues recorded a 2-1 win over Angers. A man to watch in the home team will be summer signing Victor Osimhen, who has already netted five goals in the 2019/2020 Ligue 1 season.

However, this has been a rare feature of Strasbourgs matches this season as they had scored in 14 of the previous 15 matches before facing Caen. Strasbourg simply need to regroup and get back to the type of performances that brought them so much joy between December and January. Back-to-back defeats to Angers and Saint-tienne were halted by a 0-0 draw with 19th placed Caen but they really should have been pretty comfortable in getting a win. Strasbourg threatened Caens goal on so many occasions last week but ultimately failed to find a breakthrough.

They have scored the second highest number of goals with 42 after 25 games and they have also managed to sort out their once leaky defence. Lilles attack has been fantastic, with their last match the first they have failed to score since the end of November. They have kept clean sheets in four of their last six games and now have the third best defensive record in the league.

Their most important player is Coulibaly who will try to score some goals for them. They are currently underachieving and are sitting at the 16th place in the French league 1. Their midfield is very strong and is giving trouble to the opposition in every game they play. They have won only one game and that win came in the last round against Nantes. Strasbourg, on the other hand, had a very poor season start.

Goal Timings

The Alsatians finished 15th in Ligue 1 last year but they have generally been fantastic this season, with Thierry Laureys men pushing right up the table to the point where they are now just four points away from 4th place and qualification for the Europa League. Strasbourg went on a run of eight wins in nine games between mid-December and the end of January but they have since fallen back to reality with them now winless in their last three games.

Thats the right time to choose. The match is perfect for new bettors as their chances to succeed are too high and for professional ones as they can easily predict the outcomes. Currently, they are sitting at the 7th place with 9 points and a 7:5 goal difference. Both teams are looking to secure as good as possible results in this game hoping to achieve their season goals. Strasbourg, on the other hand, had a very poor season start. My opinion is that Lille has more quality and will win this game in the end. They are both scoring and conceding goals in every game they play. Lille did not start the season as they may have hoped for.

Montpellier have been serial drawers recently so its no surprise that they managed to hold back Lille but les Dogues need to bounce back here to keep their distance on Lyon four points below them. Lille also drew 0-0 last week, with their five-match winning streak being halted by Montpellier at home. Lille dominated the game with 62% of the possession but just couldnt get the all-important goal, as the match finished a stalemate.

Strasbourgs season so far has been dominated by the rush of Europa League qualifiers. They have already played twelve games this season and the sheer number of matches was clearly affecting their league performance, but after a good international break they have looked a bit more like themselves.
